The Awards

The Asian Banker Risk Management Awards recognise individuals overseeing and steering risk management operations, achievements in major risk categories, and technology implementations that address risk.

Each year the Asian Banker recognises one chief risk officer that in several ways has contributed to the achievement of the strategies of one financial institution.

The achievement in risk management awards recognises improvements in structures and processes and to the extent recently adopted practices affect several processes underlying risk management such as calculations, reporting, organisation. The awards distinguish between financial and non-financial risks and are designed to address one risk at a time. The risk categories are credit, enterprise, liquidity, market, and operational.

The risk technology implementation awards recognise financial institutions which together with vendors and technology providers have implemented particular technology to improve the processes underlying risk management. The awards focus on several processes surrounding technology implementations and measure in several ways the success of the project.

The several awards categories are processed through benchmark studies where both industry standards and comparisons between financial institutions participating in the award category are considered.
