These days, risk management is considered a core control function in financial institutions. However, over the years and as direct cause of financial crises, heightened regulatory pressure, and technological innovations the spectrum of risk management has widened. Risk not only threatens single financial institution but also the stability of financial markets and the society. The resulting complexity pushes financial institutions to employ practices to capture risk management through design of new structures and processes and implementation of ever more advanced systems.
